Did you know that the saying, “You are what you think” is closer to the truth than many people might care to believe?

Depression has a lot to do with what you think, that is, what you announce yourself about yourself and about life’s incidents, problems, and even life’s bonuses. What you tell yourself impacts your feelings, your mood, your behavior and sometimes even your health. “But,” you say, “sometimes life really does stink.” Yes, but the reality is, how you interpret those “wicked” things in life is what determines your mood, emotions and subsequent behavior. Two people can have the same initial emotional reaction to a loss: sad, lonely, even exasperated. One person allows herself to experience those emotions but also tells herself, “Life will go on; I will be OK in the long run; a better day is ahead.” The other person attach’s negative, self-putative or self-debasing beliefs to the loss, such as, “I cannot go on. The loss was my fault, it is because I am worthless and unworthy. Life will never be good again.” This kind of negative thinking can be rooted in one’s family biology or be learned through observation of parents, family or even peers. A person who is depressed experiences these negative thoughts as something they cannot control.

Depression is a mood state that causes people varying degrees of distress. Depression, when it become more entrenched and severe is diagnosed as a Clinical Depression (Major Depressive Disorder, Bi-Polar Disorder or Dysthymia). Clinical Depression causes large physical and emotional pain. It is a relatively common mental health issue. In the United States, National Institute of Mental Health studies show that depressive disorders affect approximately 18.8 million American adults or about 9.5% of the U.S. population age 18 and older in a given year. Some experts in the field now say that everyone will eventually be affected by depression, either their own or that of someone they are conclude to. It doesn’t purchase much effort to leer that getting a grip on how we consider is critically important.

So, how exactly do those ghastly negative thoughts connect with depression? Negative thoughts, as related to depression, are generally reflected in one of three areas: negative view of self, negative view of the world and negative view of the future. These constitute what Beck, the founder of Cognitive Therapy, called the “cognitive triad.” The goal is to identify the specific negative thoughts that lead to negative emotion. Once identified the objective then is to identify what about those thoughts is irrational. Only then can a person learn to reject the distorted thoughts and replace them with more realistic alternative thoughts.

All in all, the idea of negative thoughts impacting emotions and behavior may not sound too complicated but the process of unmasking them, sorting out the rational from the irrational and learning to replace them with healthier thoughts is generally a bit too grand to take on by oneself. The negative thought pattern is often fairly automatic and self-perpetuating. Professional help is often called for. Therapists specially trained to benefit with this approach to depression treatment are called Cognitive Therapists (CT) or Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) Therapists. A CT or CBT therapist and the client work together as a team to identify problematic thinking and ways to overcome their depression through changing their thinking and subsequent emotional responses and Behaviors.

Negative thinking alone may not be the full cause of someone’s depression. Depression can be caused by factors such as biological changes and catastrophic events. However, once depression has set in, regardless of whatever the initial cause, one common factor is negative thinking. Depressed people see themselves, the world and the future in a predominantly negative manner. They notion themselves negatively and see their future as bleak. Cognitive therapy is a treatment that helps people identify and legal negative ways of thinking, telling themselves more realistic, honest and even hopeful truths about themselves and life. With practice these new ways of thinking can become healthy habits and the impact of depression is greatly reduced.

Have you ever been awakened in the middle of the night with an overwhelming sense of terror, but can’t figure out what it is that you are so afraid of? Have you ever been in the grocery store, walking down the aisles, minding your own business, when you suddenly smash out in a wintry sweat, start shaking, and feel an intense desire to hasten out of the store as quickly as possible? Do you obtain yourself worrying excessively over things that you use to take in stride? If so, you may be suffering from anxiety or awe attacks.

It’s stated that 4 million people suffer from this disorder. It is also known as Generalized Horror disorder. Suffering from excessive dismay can not only cause emotional symptoms, but can also lead you to suffer from physical symptoms as well. (Headaches, muscle tension, sweating, nausea, having trouble sleeping, etc.)

The exact cause for anxiety attacks is unknown. Several factors do seem to contribute to it though. Some of these are genetics, (family members that suffer from it also), brain chemistry, (abnormal levels of certain neurotransmitters), and environmental stresses, such as death of a loved one, abuse, divorce, etc. It is more common in women then men, and can begin in childhood, or may not present up until adulthood.

If you believe that you may be suffering from anxiety or panic attacks/disorder, it’s best to see your doctor as soon as possible. It can be diagnosed, most likely, by your doctor asking you certain questions, not only about your medical history, but also by performing a physical examination. They may foul their diagnosis on the intensity and duration of your symptoms.

Treatment for anxiety disorders include medication, behavioral therapy and/or relaxation techniques. Medications commonly used to treat anxiety disorders are usually used in a short term manner, and include a class of drugs called benzodiazepines. The medication helps because it tends to help make you feel calmer, can relax your muscles, and help with restlessness. Some of the common medication’s used include Xanax, Valium, Ativan and Librium. It may take a few weeks for these medications to “kick in”. Some of these medications are addictive, so your doctor should/will monitor your usage.

It might also be suggested that you try behavioral therapy, in which you learn to recognize what thoughts and behaviors might be leading you into having an panic attack. You may be able to learn to change your concept patterns, and learn to look at worries in a more realistic way. This may be tried alone, or along with medication.

Anxiety attacks/Panic disorders, cannot be prevented by “willing” your mind to stop them, but you can do a few things to help control some of the worst symptoms. Try to limit your caffeine intake, consume each day, eat healthy, and always seek treatment from a professional if you feel it is getting out of control.

Fibromyalgia can be a debilitating condition – a condition that is simply a symptom of an underlying cause of a disease called adrenal fatigue. Adrenal fatigue is quite common in the population due to the overbearing stresses that plague our society and the lack of understanding of properly overcoming stresses. Over time, the body wears down and fatigues; as this process occurs, many individuals develop symptoms of ligament and muscle deterioration – chronic pain, tenderness, stiffness, decreased energy, insomnia, headaches, anxiety, depression, and more.

There are simple and effective methods to overcome fibromyalgia; the following are ways to naturally overcome fibromyalgia:

Meditation:
Most Americans run around all day from one stress to the next and rarely have time to relax and focus on themselves or their body. Most are entirely “disconnected” with themselves and their body as they rarely give time to meditation. When was the last time that you had 15 minutes of silence to just focus on you and your body – no reading, no television, no conversation – just you and silence? If you are like most Americans, the answer is NEVER! Meditation is simple – it can be guided or just a period of relaxation when one focuses their mind inward. Meditation is a map of reconnecting the spirit and the mind with the body.

De-Stress Formula:
This adrenal supplementation by Nutri-West is a powerful concoction of glandulars, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and phytonutrients. These nutrients function synergistically to support various energy-producing systems of the body, especially the adrenals. The adrenals are distinguished glands that allow the body respond to stress; if they do not respond to stress, the body will die. As the adrenals are primary to continual stress response and survival, the adrenals will acquire valuable nutrients from other organ systems, including the ligaments and muscles. Over time, this supplement will help the adrenals acquire the nutrition that they need so that they stop stealing distinguished nutrients that other tissues of the body need in order to function and heal.

Total Fem-Bal Homeopathy:
This homeopathic formula by Nutri-West is a powerful remedy that balances female hormone levels without the use of artificial hormones or damaging pharmaceuticals. As a homeopathic, it has no side-effects! Amongst my patients, this formulation is widely used and appreciated. Many female patients start calling this homeopathy “their friend” as it helps them have less tenderness, less PMS, more regular periods, fewer mood swings, and more energy.

Pro-Cortisol Balance:
This formulation by Nutri-West effectively lowers the cortisol levels that are high in the body due to adrenal stress. High cortisol levels obtain the following symptoms in the body: coarse energy, insomnia, frequent awakening, feeble ligaments, decreased healing, and Syndrome X (pre-diabetic or hypoglycemic conditions). Within hours of supplementing with Pro-Cortisol Balance, people begin to sleep through the night without the need of a sleeping pill – and they awake without a hangover. Literally, they begin to sleep at night instead of just have “shut eye” time. Within weeks, the body begins to repair, energy increases, ligaments strengthen, and pain decreases.

Many of my patients have come to an initial examination with the complaints of multiple damage symptoms. Upon following my recommendations to supplement with Pro-Cortisol Balance, they returned in one week with almost no pain! The amazing thing is that no other physical remedies were performed – adjustments, frosty laser, massage, etc.

If reluctant to try these remedies on your own, catch a qualified practitioner in your area that specializes in treating adrenal fatigue. I hope that with this empowering information, you can achieve relief from fibromyalgia!

Womens heart health is not an issue many judge of as being the leader in the death and disability of women. Many individuals feel that breast cancer holds that particular space. The number of deaths each year tells a different story than the consensus about womens heart health. The numbers show that over five hundred thousand women die each year from womens heart health problems. Breast cancer falls in at about forty thousand each year. That is a drastic difference in the numbers. Why then does the population not know about womens heart health as being the problem it is today? This may be because of the way womens heart health problems present themselves.

Womens heart health problems are not noticed like men’s problems because they are not as courageous in their presentation. Men’s heart attacks show as shortness of breath, tightness in the chest and pain in the arm. Womens heart health problems resemble stress and anxiety symptoms and are commonly misdiagnosed by physicians. Womens heart health problems show as extreme fatigue, nausea, not being able to sleep, and shortness of breath. These are very close to what you get when you have a terror attack.

Womens heart health problems are a result of non-activity in a female lifestyle. Even those females that obtain walking a daily practice seem to have better womens heart health than those who do not practice any exercise each day. Keeping your weight at a controllable level will also prevent the major problems of womens heart health from occurring. The best way to prevent womens heart health issues is to have regular checkups and screenings by your physician to ensure your womens heart health is the best it possibly can be.

Womens heart health needs to be made more public than it is now. Awareness leads to more women getting help faster and thus saving more lives each year. The Sister-to-Sister Foundation is a nonprofit organization that was created for making more people aware of the need for womens heart heath. They offer free womens heart health screening to give women a chance to acquire out early if there is a dilemma, make more individuals aware of the growing problem of womens heart health issues, and making more women knowledgeable about the lifestyle changes necessary for womens heart health problems to be reduced. When the warning signs can be recognized faster womens heart health problems can be treated quicker. Knowing all the information about womens heart health problems may very well save the life of a friend or family member you hold dear.
